Hand Turned Makore Bowl

This is a gorgeous piece of Makore that I am in love with. Makore also known as Aganokwe, African Cherry, and Baku, is found in West Africa. It is an exceptionally large tree growing up to 200 feet in height with diameters approaching 9 feet. It is typical to have a Reddish-brown to pink color which i feel really shows off in this piece.

I made a pedestal in the center of the bowl with burn lines to really set itself apart from other bowls. Coming in at 9.5 inches wide and just under 2 inches tall, this bowl has excellent size for both display and use. This bowl is food safe, when cleaning use a damp cloth but make sure not to fully immerse it in water or any fluid. Please note that small cracks and other irregularities are a natural occurrence in the wood; they are not considered defects.
