This is my first butternut piece and I love it. Butternut wood is one of North America’s most gorgeous timbers. It is a member of the walnut family with a cathedral grain pattern that looks like waves breaking on a beach. At one time it was considered “the poor man’s walnut”, butternut is now prized by many.
Coming in at 7.75 inches wide and 2 inches tall this bowl has excellent size and character for both display and use. This bowl is food safe, when cleaning use a damp cloth but make sure not to fully immerse it in water or any fluid. Please note that small cracks and other irregularities are a natural occurrence in the wood; they are not considered defects.
